Lovely, honest post. I was hearing myself speak during so much of this. I don't think alcohol or those who drink it are bad, but it's certainly bad for me. Although I don't think I get excluded from anything, I still find it isolating. People often ask "well what do you do for fun, then?" I think women lately with social media are having this whole wine culture forced down their throats... it makes us feel as though we're missing out on some sort of rite of passage if we don't set our alarms for "wine o'clock". Why?
What do you think of all the wine memes out there targeting women and mothers? Do you think there are many people out there who don't enjoy drinking/get terrible hangovers but still feel like they need to drink to be included??

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Joanne, I really appreciate them. I think sometimes drinking and hangovers just become the norm and it almost becomes a joke when you can't function well the next day. I do think our culture has made a joke of drinking and while for some maybe it is harmless but I think for others it's hard to draw the line. I wanted to share my story so if there were other people like me they would know they are not alone in wondering if there is a better way and they are not the odd ball for deciding alcohol is not for them. I am glad to know that you are in the same boat as I, it's awesome to connect on that! Xoxo
