Luke Riding His Dirt Bike Solo

We are at the cottage right now and having more fun than I could have imagined. Lizzy is napping and Luke and Tyler are playing with the other kids and adults in the boat house. You guys know  I am taking a billion pictures and videos right?! I am so excited to share this place with you, it's not fancy but it's awesome.

A few weeks ago Luke got on his dirt bike, with training wheels and went for his first big ride alone. A few months prior, when we originally put the training wheels on his bike he went for a quick ride alone but got scared. We took them off and him and dad continued to ride together but we kept asking him if he wanted to ride alone. In his own time he decided he was ready and he had a blast ripping around our back field. Below is the video of his first ride. I am so proud of him for simply doing something he loves in spite of a little fear. I am also a little nervous as dirt bike riding is a dangerous sport. That being said, I just want my children to be happy evem if their sports of choice are a little more daring.

I would love to know what kinds of passions your children have and when you started to notice their love for that specific spot, please share below.

Thanks for watching and being a part of the conversation.

Xoxo

I Don't Want To Be Afraid

Yesterday I got out on a paddle board for the first time. It felt so good to be up on the water but when I looked down into the river, I got a little scared.

I have grown up on the beach but I have always been afraid of deep water because I am afraid of what swims below me while I float above. I don't like the unknown. My logical mind knows that any fish that swims below does not look at me like dinner but I can't help but feel the panic most of the time, when swimming in deep water.

As I paddled I had the internal battle of exhilaration and fear, wanting to go faster but afraid I may fall, wanting to try a little yoga but fear I may fall. As I paddled back to shore and rationalized with myself "what's really the worst that could happen?" I had a realization.

I don't want to allow fear to stop me from experiencing adventures in life.

The battle continues, I will let you know how I make out.

These Days | July 2017

Summer has arrived and these days

We have daily battles to put on sunscreen.

We dip our toes in the water.

We stay up way too late.

Luke goes to bed with dirty feet.

We run through splash pads.

As Elizabeth hits milestones, Tyler and I reminisce about Luke at the same age.

We live in a bit of chaos as we renovate our main floor bathroom but we surprisingly don't feel stressed. It will be done by Christmas;)

We can never have enough beach towels, what is with beach towels, they always go missing.

There is sand on the floor.

I feel like I am always telling someone to shut the door.

I pray a lot while nursing Elizabeth.

Routine does not exist.

We go go go for a few days then crash for a few days.

We can hear the boats on the river from our house.

Lizzy is sleeping through the night and I have been waking up before everyone and its my favourite time of the day.

When Luke and I hang alone it's so so sweet.

I love to watch Elizabeth's face as we look out the window each morning.

I feel so blessed it scares me.

There are moments in these days when I try really hard to capture a picture and seal it in my heart so I can remember it forever.

I am grateful for these days.

Canada 150 Weekend

I hope you had an amazing Canada Day weekend and made memories with your favourite people.

Ours was sweet and so much fun. We ate all the good food, swam, watched fireworks lazed with friends and family, stayed up late, woke up early and chatted about our gratitude for our lives in this great country we call home.

As I watched Luke enjoy the long weekend traditions I have enjoyed my whole life, I flashed back to my childhood and the memories I have from Canada Day weekends past. Mom and dad, thanks for working hard to create those memories because as much as all this summer fun is amazing, it takes work too. It is of course the best kind of work.

Summer has officially started and I am ready for all the adventures that wait in the long hot summer days.

Thanks God for this life I am living in the true north strong and free!

xoxo Audrey
