15 Minute Everyday Makeup

I don't feel like I need makeup on to leave the house but I do enjoy wearing it and I love the process of getting ready in the morning. In this makeup tutorial, I take you through my current everyday makeup routine. This look takes me about 15 minutes to complete. The focus is on skin, foundation products are my favourite and the eyes are super simple. I have key makeup pieces in my makeup bag which is what I get ready with each morning. This is a time saver as I am not searching through all of my makeup each day to find what I need. When I try something new, I switch the products out in my makeup bag so the products don't get out of control.

Here is what I am using and doing right now to create a quick, polished, everyday look. Thanks for watching!

I have linked the products I used below, if you want to check any of them out for yourself.

Urban Decay Born To Run Palette | Makeup Tutorial

I have been having fun creating lots of looks with the Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette over the last few weeks. I have shared some of the different looks I have created below. In the video below, I am creating a soft, blended purple eye look. I barely edited this video, I thought it would be cool for you guys to see how much I blend each colour for a soft everyday look. Sometimes when I edit a makeup tutorial I just give a quick shot of where to apply each colour and then move on to the next step. This look is a quick look that is easy to create any day of the week. Thanks for watching and I hope you guys like it.

Spring Makeup Tutorial | Caryl Baker Visage Free Spirit Collection

I have been having so much fun creating a glowing spring face with the Caryl Baker Visage, Free Spirit Collection the last week. I instantly loved this palette because when I have almost everything I need in one place, it makes life easier and I am all about efficiency. The mirror in the palette is huge for an easy full face application. The makeup pans are individually refillable which is smart so I can refill just my favourite colours when they run out. The pigments are vibrant and the products are blendable.

All of the shades in this collection compliment each other beautifully so I will be able to create a variety of looks. I don't like to limit myself to just use shadows on my eyes and blush on my cheeks so I consider all colours fair game for creating new looks. In the makeup tutorial below, I show you how I used one of the eyeshadows to contour my face. I hope you will check out this tutorial, I share lots of tips for using the Free Spirit Collection and some more reasons I love this makeup! If you want to try the Free Spirit Collection for yourself, you can visit a Caryl Baker Visage location and have the colours applied on you. That is one of the reasons I love CBV, you have an opportunity to try the products before you buy them, with the assistance of a Face Expert.

Here is the full makeup tutorial.

You can find a full description and pricing on the Caryl Baker Visage Free Spirit Collection here.

If you are in Sarnia you can connect with our Caryl Baker Visage on Facebook or Instagram.

Stila Stay All Day Review

I received the Stila Stay All Day Foundation in a PR package a few weeks ago and was so excited to try out a new full coverage foundation, (full coverage foundation is my favourite). I have been wearing this foundation everyday for almost three weeks now and am happy to share my thoughts.

Here is how Stila describes this product.
"Stila Stay All Day Foundation is a lightweight, high definition, buildable coverage, oil free, matte foundation. Conveniently hidden inside the cap is a creamy, full-coverage refillable concealer that blends seamlessly to instantly neutralize under-eye circles and hide skin imperfections. This ultra long-wearing, water resistant formula is designed to Stay All Day, and looks and feels natural on skin."

What I love about this foundation.
The coverage is buildable, when you use less product you achieve a more sheer coverage and when you use a full pump or more of the foundation, you get a flawless finish, so the product is versatile. This foundation lasts for most of the day on me, but by the end of the day it has broken up in my t-zone revealing my skin. I did love the finish and coverage though for the time it lasted on my skin. The product has no fragrance and is comfortable to wear. I love that the concealer is in the cap and the colour with peach undertones really brightens my under eye! I will continue to wear this foundation for everyday.

What I don't love about this foundation.
The pump for the foundation is a little tricky to use. If I just wanted a half pump for a light coverage look, or if I wanted a half pump more to add another layer of coverage I ended up wiping product away and throwing it in the garbage. As I said in the video, I have oily skin, so on me this was not a matte finish foundation. In my makeup artistry work, I would use this product on normal to dry skin types for the best skin type match. When applied to dryer skin, I do think this foundation would wear longer and more matte but not as much on an oilier skin type.

Check out the shade range of the Stila Stay All Day Foundation here.

I am so grateful to have received this product and I hope you guys found this review helpful. I shared my thoughts in a first impression video/vlog as well, check that out here.

Glitter Makeup Hack | HAL Makeup Artistry

In this video I used craft glitter from the dollar store to create a fun makeup look. I loved the way the look came together. In comparison to my Stila and Urban Decay glitters (actual makeup glitter), the main differences were how the glitter felt on my eyes all day and its fall out throughout the day. The craft glitter had a much more chunky texture, so I could feel it on my eyes and because it was a more course glitter, some pieces did land on my cheek throughout the day where as my makeup glitters do not do that. I am so glad I did this little beauty experiment, I think this technique for glitter might be best for someone who wants to wear glitter for one party, (aka might wear glitter once a year) and doesn't want to make the investment for one time use.

If you would like to try the good stuff for a special occasion, that is what I carry in my professional makeup kit and I make house calls to help you get glit! You can always book an makeup appointment with me through my email heatherlapier@gmail.com.

I would love to hear any of your beauty experiments or hacks in the comments below. Thank you for watching!

Glitter Eyeliner Makeup Tutorial | Christmas Makeup Tutorial

I am so excited, Christmas is the most wonderful and fun time of the year. I love to show off my joy by wearing glitter during the holiday season. I wear glitter all year round but especially do not shy away from it this time of year. The look I am creating in this video is not a dramatic glitter look, its just a bit of sparkle around your eyes. If you are new to wearing glitter, this might be a good place to start. And, if your comfortable in glitter, maybe this is a fun everyday look for you during this season.

I hope you like this makeup tutorial, I had fun creating it! This is the first of a few Christmas makeup tutorials I will be sharing from now until Christmas so don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don't miss any of the fun.

How To Contour & Highlight Using Powder | HAL | Caryl Baker Visage Contour & Highlight

I always get questions about contouring and highlighting so this video is focused specifically on that. I am using powders to contour and highlight my face in this video because I think those are the easiest products to work with when you are learning these techniques and powders are also the most efficient to work with.

Similar Caryl Baker Visage products can be found at the links below, these powders do not come in the palette form anymore but as singles so you can choose only the ones you need.

2017 Bronzer Guide

I wear bronzer almost everyday but depending on the time of year and the look I am trying to achieve, the product I use and application vary. I hope this bronzer guide will help you to navigate your next bronzer purchase or help you to break down the variety of bronzing products out there and the different ways they can be used.

Bronzer can be used to warm the face and create a sun kissed look or to sculpt the face. Some makeup artists say that a warm toned bronzer can not be used to contour and I always say, "with makeup there are no rules, just techniques". You do what works for you. Here are some of my thoughts on some bronzers I have been using lately.

Disclaimer: this guide is based on my personal use and skin tone, none of these shades/products would work well on very deep skin tones.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
This formula comes in a variety of shades but the colour Chocolate Soliel is specifically beautiful for fair skin. I wear this bronzer often in the winter and only use it to contour my face. This line of bronzers are matte and smell like chocolate. This is a product that has been raved about on YouTube which was why I originally purchased it and I think it is worth the hype. It has no orange undertones and blends beautifully into the skin.

Arbonne Bronze
I have used this bronzer on myself and clients for two years now and am amazed at how well it works on a variety of skin tones. This bronzer has a cool undertone and is shimmery. I use this to contour and create a sun kissed look and wear it all year round. This is an excellent basic bronzer for anyone looking for bronzer they can wear many ways.

Maybelline Master Bronze Palette
I am loving the Maybelline Master palettes! On days when I need to get ready very quickly these palettes serve as my full colour products for my face. I love the variety of bronzers in this palette as it allows me to contour and create a gradient bronze look topped with a highlight. The shades also range from matte, to sparkle, to shimmer. I have used this highlighter on my shoulders and décolletage and this might be one of the best highlighters I have ever used. The downside is that I would say this palette is best suited for fair skin and as my skin starts to get a little darker in the summer months, the darker shades are not showing up as much. I will still wear the highlighter through the summer but will have to choose deeper bronzers.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer
This is a matte medium bronzer with excellent pigment. I really like this bronzer for contouring and will be using this through the summer now that my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil is too light for me. This product is long lasting when applied over foundation and I really love the package because the mirror is huge for the bronzer size. I often use this mirror when applying my eyeshadow.

Check out how I have been using the Maybelline Master Bronze Palette in this quick makeup tutorial over on my Facebook page. How To Bronze Your Face Using One Palette

I would love to know what your favourite bronzers are and why, please share in the comments.
