Here are my favourite looks from September. It was a month that slowly transitioned us into the cooler temperatures. It was a month of big transitions for our family as we all adjusted to Luke starting school. It was a month of change and growth for all of us. I am thankful for what we got from this past September but I am feeling so relieved to jump into October. I love Thanksgiving, the weather has everything feeling cozy and I feel like I have found my footing in our current season. What I am really trying to work on is bringing a little weekend vibe into every single day and not worrying about stuff so much. I am chilling out with the cooler temps. I have linked some of the key fashion items I am wearing in these pictures if your interested in shopping any of them for yourself.
I love you guys and I love chatting with you on Instagram. How are you feeling about October, what are you looking forward to this month, whats on your mind when it comes to fashion, just let me know whats up.
xoxo

Mix It Up | Style By HAL
I love pairing soft pretty fashion pieces with items that are more tough. I have had a vision of creating this kind of look with this tutu from Lace & Charm since I got it last winter. I am having a lot of fun these days mixing it up, fashion is supposed to be fun right! I take myself too seriously sometimes, getting creative with my outfits helps me to loosen up and laugh at myself. Dressing is truly a passion for me and when a vision comes together like it did for this outfit, it makes me excited.
I put this outfit together specifically for these pictures but I would wear this if I was going to a concert or birthday party depending on the location, it would be for a special event that was not too formal. Fashion and photos are kind of becoming an art for me too, all of my socials are a creative outlet and I love how my blog can evolve with me as I grow and change.
With any outfit, I think there needs to be some sort of balance. I normally think of this in terms of weight. Like the skirt is lightweight and the boots and belt are heavy. The shirt is light but the graphics are heavy and grungy and the hat is heavy too. The scrunchy, thats just fun and practical.
I hope this post encourages you to play around with some items in your wardrobe!
Love You!

Summer Dresses | Old Navy
My favourite thing to wear in the summer is a dress! It is effortless and comfortable. Many of my dresses I have had for years, when you have classic shapes in your wardrobe you will be able to wear them for seasons to come and refresh them with accessories. Over the years, I have picked up some of my favourite dresses from Old Navy so I scrolled through their website and linked a bunch I love below. Bonus for shopping dresses during August, many styles are on sale. Here are some of my favourite summer dresses and some new styles I am loving from Old Navy too.

5 Beach Cover Ups | Style Inspiration
Sometimes I want to style up my bathing suit a little. Especially if its going to be a full day at the beach, near the water, fun activities and backyard BBQS. I want to create a full outfit around my bathing suit so when I am not swimming, I still look chic! Here are five beach cover up ideas.
Button Down Shirt
This is an item you probably already have in your wardrobe, repurpose it for summer by rolling up the sleeves, and leaving it open for a fresh sophisticated beach cover up.
Traditional Beach Cover Up
These are normally made from airy thin fabrics that leave you feeling cool even when covered up. I always choose styles that are more fancy to give me that tropical beach vacation vibe on the shores of Lake Huron.
Thin Linen Dress
This sheer dress makes me feel beautiful on the way to the beach or running into the grocery store on the way home from a day in the sun.
Kimono
I never feel like I get to wear my kimonos enough so I love throwing them over my bathing suits to create a beachy, boho look.
Long Tank Top
Lose your shorts and head to the water in comfort with a long tank top that just covers enough!

My Basic Picks From The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale 2018
We are in the midst of the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale 2018 and while I wish I was a shopper who stocked up on off season items when they were on sale, I am not. I just cant do it. I love buying things I can wear right now. I am impatient. So here are my picks from the sale for basics I want to wear right now. And, a pair of wedges I love that I need to add to my collection, that are not on sale.
I love this tank, clean lines with the tiniest slit details on the sides of the bottom hem. Find it here, it comes in a few different colours.
These wedges are not on sale but I know I will get my moneys worth wearing them. Wedges are so practical and the brown leather will go with everything. Check them out here.
I am loving white denim this season and I love the distressed details on this pair, see more pictures here.
I love the frayed edges on these denim shorts. I have been reaching for the pair I am wearing in the picture above almost everyday so I think I need a second pair. These shorts, with the grey tank above, the wedges and some delicate gold jewellery, boom, a perfect effortless summer outfit.
Blue and white stripes are so fresh in the summer. I would wear this tank with the white shorts, wedges and gold accessories for a more nautical feeling outfit. Check out this not so basic, basic here.
I can never have too many plain black and white t-shirts. A v-neck is just a little everyday sexy, don't you think? Anyways, this one comes in a few different colours and its under $20, you can see it here.
You guys know I love denim jackets! This one above is such a classic cut and colour, you will be wearing it for years to come, all year round. See more pictures here.
And this light wash denim jacket is also the most perfect classic cut. The wash makes it a little more edgy and summery.
These wedges come in a handful of colours and are on sale for $64.29. I personally love this neutral grey shade but a pop of colour is always fun too. Check out all the fun colours for yourself here.
These Michael Kors wedges are almost like the ones I posted above but they are a little less expensive and they have the cross strap design. The leather is also a little darker but these are another great summer wardrobe stable. Check them out here.
I think when we have items like these in our summer wardrobe, its easy to create effortless, chic looks! Its amazing how an excellent pair of shoes and exciting accessories, spruce up a t-shirt and jean shorts.
