Lizzy Lately February

Elizabeth you make us so happy. You do not need to try and do anything special, you just need to be you.

You have the cutest run.

You have the cutest everything, seriously I can not handle it.

You love to say meow.

Meow is also the name of your pink and white cat.

You love to take showers.

You are confident when taking part in felt board activities at the library and drop in centre.

You follow my moves when we do yoga at home so well.

You are happy!

You have this little foot stamp happy dance you do when you are excited.

We are working on learning to jump.

The way you say mommy and daddy melts our hearts, your voice is the sweetest thing ever.

You are a snuggler.

You still enjoy nursing but it’s more of a quiet time thing these days as you are easily distracted by your brother.

You copy most of what your brother does and it’s awesome.

You love music and singing.

You love food. When we go to Gma and Pappas you go right to Papa and ask him to feed you. (I agree Lizzy, they always have the best eats at their house).

You are independent and affectionate, I think that means you can rely on others but also stand alone. Exercise both qualities always because both are beautiful and important to being a woman.

You are very good at hide and seek, specifically at being quiet while hiding.

When we tell you to say cheese, you give us the biggest smile.

You are wonderful our Lizzy girl, Missy Moo, Lizzy Boo, we love trying to figure you out.

Love, Mom and Dad!

Faith In Action

God has been working on strengthening my faith through the regular moments of everyday life. In this video I am sharing a story about how I learned to expand my faith to faith in action. The closer I get to God, the more I learn and it is amazing. God is so good.

I hope you will hang with me for a few minutes and check out the video below. I would also love for your to share your favourite faith Bible verse.

Shaped By The Lake

We moved to the beach when I was four years old and my parents still live in the home we grew up in. It is the only home we have ever known. We soaked in all the summer fun the beach offered when we were children. We didn't take it for granted but I don't think we fully realized that not everyone has a beach at the end of their street until we were adults.

As an adult I am so grateful to have been raised on Lake Huron. Being close to the lake wasn't just a source of entertainment, it was a lifestyle that shaped my sisters and I. All three of us are pretty creative and I think being close to the water contributed to that. When you sit in the sand and look straight out into the water, your mind is quiet and free to dream. You can walk along the shoreline and take in the scenery, calming sounds and the rest of the world melts away. It is the first place where I learned how to be still and calm. Like the waves that change the landscape of the beach, the lake has contributed to forming the woman I am today.

My mom walks the beach daily almost all year round and for the past few years she has been collecting beach glass and saving it in jars. Her and my sister Sara gave Huron Glass two bins of the glass and from the glass my mom has found, my sisters and I now have the rings and pieces pictured in these images. These rings are beautiful but they definitely hold an extra special place in my heart knowing they were picked by the woman who chose to raise us on the lake, from the beach where I grew up. I not only have lake water in my veins, now I have beach glass in my style too!

No More Excuses | Meeting With A Nutritionist

On Saturday I met Tristan Bassett a Registered Nutritionist in Sarnia. My current lackadaisical approach to nutrition is no longer cutting it. I joke about the amount of coffee I drink and the treats I eat and while I am so not willing to give those things up completely, things need to change for me to live my best life and for me to raise children who appreciate and respect food for the amazing fuel and pleasure it is.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, who you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.

I am ready to learn more about improving my personal nutrition and the overall wellness of my family. I am ready to start honouring my body for the temple that it is. I am not trying to lose weight, my goal working with Tristan is to learn how to fuel my body and improve the way I care for my family, so we can live our best lives, in so many ways. Tristan and I connected online over the topic of blogging and now I am so excited to be working with her and sharing this journey with all of you.

During our first meeting I let Tristan know that my end goal is to grow a family that has a balanced approach to food. I don't want to give up pizza nights on Fridays or donuts on Sundays but I know I need to make some improvements to our diets. I need some accountability at least in the beginning and I think this will be a huge benefit of working with Tristian Bassett. Tristan was encouraging when I shared my concerns and because of her very personal approach to nutrition, I am excited about the experience and hopeful that my family is about to start a new chapter that will enhance the rest of our lives.

Here are some of the excuses I have used as to why I should not make my nutrition and the nutrition of my family a greater priority. I am just going to leave these here on my blog, and thats the end of these.

My children won’t eat vegetables and it’s easier to make something everyone will eat for dinner.

I deserve treats after being home with the kids all day.

It’s too expensive to buy whole foods all the time.

I don’t have enough time to prepare healthy meals 7 days a week.

There it is folks, no more excuses.

Tristan’s passion is educating others and I am ready to learn! Once you know, you know and there is no going back, right! So, here we go, join me on this journey, it’s going to be fun, honest and interesting!

Anyone can have a complimentary one on one consultation with Tristan like I did on Saturday, to begin designing the best nutrition plan for your unique lifestyle, check out her booking page here.

Thank you for joining me on all my adventures and taking part in the conversation. What are some excuses that stand in the way of improving your wellness? Comment below, I want to know.

Home Life | Stay At Home / Work At Home Mom

I have been working mostly from home for the last few weeks. Being home a lot allows me so much time for thought and talk with God. Sometimes I hope for a little adventure project that will take me out for the day but most of the time I just try to settle into the days and the pace of home.

Time at home brings me back to the basics, to simplicity.

I love to be out and about but I do truly love being home.

I really like the responsibilities of my days and am grateful for everything.

When I had children my world suddenly got smaller. Maybe it doesn’t happen to everyone but it happened to me. Family, close friends and a few new online/texting friends became my new world.

I remember, especially with Elizabeth, the newness in postpartum as such a raw emotional place to be. It’s a happinesses so grand it spills out regularly in tears. My home is now connected with all of the memories of that phase, maybe that’s why I like to be home for stretches of time, to try and hold close to the rawness of motherhood. My home is where I find my basic female self. I like her. I like her feminine caring and nurturing strengths. She is the foundation of everything else I offer to the world because mother and lover is who I was designed to be as a woman.

When I am home my spiritual core becomes stronger. Home is where I recharge and find inspiration.

I am stumbling through this phase regularly but I love it.

xoxo

Interviews With Lizzy & Luke

A few weeks ago I filmed a quick video while the kids played in Lukes room. They are always very curious while I film though and when I was finished, they were excited to have a turn in front of the camera. "YouTube Family" is a true tag for us as I think I am creating little social media butterflies. I love it though, its fun and confidence building. Check out my interview with the kids in the video below.

My Favourite Fragrances

Since our first Christmas together, Tyler and I have been gifting each other with fragrances for holidays and special occasions. It is really fun to smell through a fragrance section and try to choose one that will suite your loves personality. It is also awesome to have a collection of different fragrances to wear that will compliment different situations and looks. Lastly, my fragrances now hold special meaning. My favourite is Chanel Mademoiselle this is the first fragrance Tyler ever gifted me in the travel set . I love the smell, I love its staying power, I love how it makes me feel so womanly, I love that he loves it and I experience so many memories every time I wear it. Chanel Mademoiselle is definitely the overall fragrance of my closet. When your loved one is choosing a fragrance for you, you know its pleasing to them too, which I think is pretty special. Anytime Tyler takes the time to choose something for me, I always hold it dear. My favourite fragrance on Tyler is Bleu Chanel. Chanel can really do no wrong with fragrances in my opinion, expensive yes, but they last and the quality is exceptional.

If you need some last minute Valentines gift inspiration, check out some of my favourites fragrances below.

OOTD | Sweaters

Its winter and I just want to be cozy. I am currently addicted to sweatshirts and hoodies. We have all loved hoodies forever but the sweatshirt, well friends, that one is making a come back. It is all about sweaters right now! With this style I gravitate towards girlier styles and colours but there is such a variety to choose from. Things are getting really fun with the graphics being printed on them. So many brands are using text to help us fashionistas share a little about ourselves. I am all for this fashion movement! I even love the style for the whole family, check out Elizabeth and I in some matching pink cozies. I picked up this pink hoodie pictured here from H&M and Elizabeth's is from Urban Kids both from the Lambton Mall in Sarnia.

A few more cute pink sweaters for $20 or less.

An Entrepreneur's Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the gift of working for myself. I am so grateful for the responsibilities and blessings that come with this role.

Thank you for allowing me to create and build.

Help me to bless others with this gift as you have blessed me.

Please guide me, my spirit is creative and distracted at times. I want to do so much everyday.

My dreams are big but I know yours are better so help me to stay in line with your will for my business and personal life.

Thank you for gifting me with entreprenurial friends, working alone can be lonely at times.

Thank you for a husband and family who support my work. Entrepreneurs may work for themselves in business but there is a team that works with them in life, to allow for work success to happen.

Help me to value, honour and love rest.

In seasons of waiting, help me to remember the past successes you have given me to remind me of your faithfulness and the focus to keep on doing what you designed me to do.

Lastly, thank you for being the CEO of everything, this role is far to large for little old me. I will accomplish all things through your strength alone.

xoxo

Eternity

Do you ever wonder what Heaven will be like? Do you ever try to imagine what the presence of God will be like? Do you ever have moments, when your home is quiet, everyone is asleep and well, maybe it’s snowing outside and maybe you have a hot drink in your hand, and you just think, wow God, thank you for all of this? I have these moments and then wonder, will Heaven and eternity be like this, but a million times sweeter?

In those moment of wonderous gratitude, happiness and peace I still feel this tinge in my heart sometimes of sadness, I want to hold onto the moment so bad and remember the sweetness of everything right now but I know I can’t. Things will keep moving forward and changing and the sweetness will change.

Why is that sadness tinge always lingering?

1 John 3:2
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

I think, it may be because this earth is not our home. We were all created with the opportunity to choose God and we were created in His image. It is implanted in us to desire our Heavenly Father and to be in His presence. Heaven and the presence of God has no sadness. I want to try and enjoy life unafraid of trying to hold onto each moment so tightly, knowing that Heaven is an eternity of these moments.

I want to live more focused on eternity while being joyful and present in each moment.

These are just some thoughts that have been swirling in my head the last month or so. Life is so beautiful and I love it so much, it kinda freaks me out sometimes you know!? This was a tough one for me to sort out but writing it and sharing it here always makes me feel better, that is why I started my blog.

Does anyone else ever feel like this?

Lord, help me to be present and grateful for today while always focusing on you and your eternal perspective. Thank you for your plan and preparing me on this life journey, for eternity with you.
