Its Way Beyond Me by TobyMac

This song has been speaking to me so much lately.

Everything I am working on right now and all of the goals I have set for myself for the upcoming year, are way beyond me. Alone, what I am trying to accomplish could never be done, but if I walk with Jesus on my journey, I am sure I can't even imagine the places He will take me and the things He will lead me to do.

And you know what I realized, He leads me to these places because He knows me better than I know myself and what I am capable of. He also wants to walk this road with me and be my partner as I triumph and work through struggles.

Everything I am and able to do, is because of Him. In a world filled with Facebook Likes, comments and follows it's easy to get caught up in thinking I am doing cool stuff but I can't take the credit, God is working through me.

I wouldn't be able to share my faith so openly. I wouldn't be able to choose to stay at home with Luke and start my own business. It's all because I have decided to walk with the Lord, it's all because he leads me, it's all because I need Him, that I am able.

It's a scary and comforting thing at the same time to know it's out of my hands and I simply need to lean and follow.

A Visit With The Birds

A few weekends ago we went to visit my Bird family in Fergus. I love Fergus! I especially love Fergus in the summer, its green and peaceful and kinda dreamy. More than I love Fergus, I love the Birds who live there, my cousins, Aunt and Uncle.

This visit, we decided to explore St Jacobs Farmers Market. It was the first weekend of the new building being open and that market was a buzzing. We did a little shopping and a lot of eating. Luke was even into trying the different foods, it was so fun. We literally, ate our way through that market.

After a tour through the market, we went to visit some more family that lived in the area and enjoyed some time catching up. Luke was happy to play with someone his own age and we were happy to chat over more food and coffee.

I am blessed enough to have family members that are also my friends, and for that I am grateful.

I hope your weekend is filled with family, fun and food!!!

True Beauty

One of the greatest parts about being a makeup artist, is the bond that is created between you and your client, while you apply their makeup. Once we have discussed the direction of their look and I know what I will be creating, the conversation often turns to life. In the 30 - 60 minutes we chat, amazing things can happen. I often get to see the real beauty inside someone which always makes what I do on the outside, so much more stunning.

The women I encounter, never cease to amaze me with their light. They are blessings to those around them and this lovely lady in these photos, is a perfect example of a shinning light. We should let our light shine bright for all to see, it is our true beauty.

Random Things That Make Me Think Of My Dad

Isn't it funny how certain things, sounds, smells or foods can trigger a memory? Here are some things that always make me think of my dad.

The sound of a baseball game on the radio - this sound brings me back to hot summer nights in the car on road trips. The windows would be down and we would be travelling to or from a family vacation. Everyone would be asleep and dad would be listening the Blue Jays on the radio.

Toast cut up into "soldiers" - this was something that my dad always did for me and my sisters when he made us breakfast or breakfast for dinner.

Breakfast for dinner - my dad isn't much of a cook (sorry dad its the truth) but he does make a mean breakfast for dinner. Having breakfast for dinner is always so fun to me, it feels like your breaking the rules and it always makes me think of my dad.

A really good commercial or movie that surprisingly makes me cry - I haven't seen my dad cry on too many occasions but when he does, you know its for something good. Like a movie you didn't think would get you to tear up or me and my sisters performing in a play.

Soccer - my dad is a huge soccer fan!!! He hangs flags around the house, inside and out, when his favourite teams are playing. If the game is on, everything else can wait.

Fishing - when I was young my dad was a hard core fisherman. He would boil fish eggs and stink up our house, store those fish eggs in old margarine containers in the fridge and get up super early so he could get a few hours of fishing in, before the work day.

Hard work - my dad is one of the hardest working people I know. He pours himself into his work and anyone who has ever had the pleasure of working with him, would tell you that he is a great guy to work with.

My people skills - sorry mom but I think I got my smooth talking abilities from dad.

Dad, thanks for everything you do for our family, all the cool memories you created with us, all the awesome memories that we are creating right now and for being your goofy self, even when it was embarrassing.

I love you!
Heather

Free Spirit Makeup by H.A.L. Makeup Artistry

In the summer I feel like more of a free spirit and my makeup and clothing reflects that. I got together with my friends Meg & Cass, to shoot some makeup looks, inspired by summer music festivals. I always say, there are no rules when it comes to makeup, just techniques and trends. Below I have listed some of the trends I have featured in these looks. I hope these images inspire you to try something new with your look, for your next summer event.

Featured Trends

Matte Lip Colour
Matte lips are super on trend. Turn your favourite glossy colours into matte, by dusting them with translucent powder.

False Lashes
There are so many false lashes to choose from, for these looks I chose very dramatic lashes. These are a fun way to add drama to your look and bring more attention to your eyes.

Smokey Eyes
A smokey eye is fashionable all year round. This time of year, it can be dark or it can be more subtle, by creating the look with flesh tones as I did in the image below. The key is, to apply the colour all the way around the eye using a smudging technique.

Exaggerated Lip Lines
I think we need to thank the Kardashians for bringing this trend back from the 90's. The modern take on this look, has the lip liner and lip colour blended beautifully, leaving you with full lips that make people wonder, if you had some work done. (Nope, your just super skilled with that pencil:)

Decorative Makeup
This is especially fun for events. I smeared coloured shadow powder, in different places on these ladies faces, to add whimsy to their makeup. To enhance the colour, I placed gems along the smear lines. This look is playful and free.

Let your spirit run free
Try something new
Fill your heart with love
And seek joy in all you do
Peace
xoxo Audrey

Arbonne Makeup Review By H.A.L. Makeup Artistry

This week I had the opportunity to play around with some makeup from Arbonne. I am always trying new products so that my makeup kit is stocked with the best makeup I can get my hands on. This video takes you through my initial impression of some Arbonne makeup and also offers some tips for the look I created. I liked the makeup and will be purchasing some to add to my kit. Specifically, I was very impressed with the pigment of all the Arbonne makeup I had the opportunity to try out.

In addition to testing out some Arbonne products, I also tested the the new Caryl Baker Visage Eye Prime. This was an excellent primer and assisted in my eyeshadow staying exactly in place, all day long. If you are creating a defined eye look and want your shadow colour to really show up, I would recommend this product.

All in all, my makeup stayed on really well all day and it felt great as I went about my Saturday afternoon activities. Having makeup on my face that I don't have to think about is something that is very important to me.

I hope you enjoy this video and maybe check out some Arbonne products for yourself.

Luke - 9 Months

Its summer! I have a feeling this is going to be the best summer ever.

Luke,

I love seeing your little chubby feet and toes.

I love your little body in just a diaper.

I love the smell of sunscreen all over you.

I love how you look kinda sweaty when you wake up from your naps.

Summertime you, is my favourite you so far.

You are crawling and pulling yourself up on everything.

You are now at the point in your crawling phase, where I think you are starting to get frustrated again because your ready for the next thing, walking.

You learn something new everyday.

You give kisses, oh man, I just wanna kiss you all day! Your kisses are open mouth kisses like a baby bird and its just the best thing ever.

You like adventures and being outside.

You also like quiet time and you really like to sleep in your own bed.

You are particular and laid back at the same time.

You like food but you change your mind about what you like, from meal to meal.

You had a big face plant this month and cut your lip with your tooth. You cried pretty hard but when I take you to the window to look outside, it always helps you to calm down.

You have been to the beach and tasted sand, something tells me you will eat a lot of that this summer.

Things keep getting better and better, don't ever stop or slow down, I promise, I can keep up.

Love your mom.
xoxo

Mommy Makeup With Suzanne Toth

I had the pleasure of getting together with Suzanne Toth , Childbirth Educator and talking beauty for moms and busy women. I created 3 looks for Suzanne for various time restraints that we mothers find ourselves in. Each look can be built as the day goes on, without washing your face and starting over. We created a 5 minute makeup, 15 minute makeup and date night look. Some fabulous pictures of Suzanne and all the details, are over on her blog.

I Am Growing A Green Thumb

I am not much of a gardner, many plants have died under my watch. Tyler and I have tried to grow gardens before with little success but we thought we would give it another go this year.

When Tyler sets his mind to something, he goes all the way with it and our garden was no exception to that rule.

He started researching plant layout, watering schedules and what we needed to keep out any Peter Cotton Tails, that may want to try our lettuce.

The results are a beautiful garden that fill my heart with the most comforting sense of home, when I look out into our back yard in the morning.

Luke and I water the garden each morning and check on the plants when we get back from our walks in the afternoons.

I am really excited for the days when we can make meals with the food from our backyard. There is some work around the house, that just continues to make this place feel more like a home and me continually grateful for our cozy little spot.

Happy weekend friends, may your activities be fruitful.
