Friday Night Fam Jam

Last Friday was brother Keegan's birthday celebration and we all had a great time!

Mike and Coco were the perfect team in the kitchen.

Surf and turf was the menu and everything was cooked to perfection.

Poor Keegan had to cut his own cake.

The night ended with some entertainment and us all thinking we should start a family band.

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Today was Fat Tuesday and I sure got my fat on.  Breakfast was nothing exciting because I slept in a little so a fast and easy granola bar was the solution.  At lunch we were surprised with an in office pancake lunch.  Our bosses girlfriend came to our office and set up an entire pancake station including strawberries, bananas, pie filling chocolate chips and whip cream.  It was so delicious and such a nice surprise.

A few weeks ago I planned to take Belinda out for her birthday dinner to the all you can eat chinese food restaurant, Hana, and didn't even realize that our birthday feast landed on "Fat Tuesday".  This gave us even more of a reason to gorge on all the great food at Hana.

I laughed at myself silently today because my Fat Tuesday was so fat that I actually had to remove the belt I was wearing after lunch because I was so full and it was digging into my sides.  I slipped it off and into my bag, hopefully while no one was looking.  That was a first.

So now we move into lent and I think I am going to give up alcohol (yes that includes my beloved wine) for the next 30 days.  The point is to choose something that is difficult to give up and learn to lean on God instead of your vices, right?  Well I am sure I have turned to a little glass of red for a sense of calm in the past and it probably wouldn't kill me to go without it over the next few weeks.

I am going to sleep on it and get back to you with what I decide to give up.  Happy Fat Tuesday everyone!

Meet Charlie

Hi, I am Charlie.  I am the fur baby of Tyler and Heather Lapier.  I know this is my mom's blog but ever since she started it, I have been asking her to let me write something.  It's not very often that I get what I want or get to say my piece for that matter so I was so excited when mom said I could write something for her blog.  I have never blogged before so I thought I would just start by telling you a little about my daily life.

I live a pretty normal life with a regular routine.  I wake mom and dad up in the morning by jumping into bed with them and snuggling in for a few minutes.  Then I let them know that I need to pee and we all crawl out of bed.  Once mom and dad are done banging around in the kitchen and head off to wherever they go during the day (they always talk about this place called "work") I curl up on the couch and head back to sleep until the living room gets bright with light.

In the afternoons I like to wake up and hunt for my food.  My parents leave me a pile of food in a bowl in the kitchen but its always the same flavour and some times I just don't want to eat the same thing for breakfast lunch and dinner.  If I am lucky (which I normally am if mom leaves the house last) then there is a bag or garbage easily accessible to me in the kitchen.  I need to do a little jumping to get to it but I can normally grab it.  The garbage is so exciting because you never know what your going to get.  I love to rip it all out and spread it across the floor before I decide what I am going to eat first.  My favourite things to find in the garbage are bones, meat and bread.

After I am done having a snack I make a lap around the house to make sure the permitter is secure and then I take watch at the top of the couch in front of the window.

In the evenings I take mom and dad out for walks and to the park to play.  Sometimes they prefer to snuggle on the couch so I just keep them warm.  Once in a while dad and I will play hide and go seek which is my favourite, mom calls this the "10:30 melt down".

So thats a little bit about my life.  Mom said I can start writing on a regular basis so I will be back with more stories soon.

Me Time

I was chatting with my sister today and she told me it was her day off and she was a little board just hanging at the library by herself. I quickly responded by saying that slow time just for you is important. I think we need to also give ourselves time to get to know a little more about who we are. I especially think this for Emily because of the age she is at.

Talking a dose of my own medicine I decided to squeeze in a run after work before a meeting. This is not only good for my body but also my mind. I had time to think through things, get a little creative and even feel proud for what I accomplished.

Another way I like to spend time with me is cooking really delicious food. This took me some time to wrap my head around, I just thought if I am cooking for one it's not worth making a big meal. But then I decided I am worth it. So if I feel like a full meal, then that's what I cook. Anyways, that's just a detail, the point is if I don't know me and treat my special, who will?
