Hunger Games

I have to admit that I have completely jumped on the Hunger Games band wagon. I may even be guilty of driving the wagon as I have passed this book series onto others who are now totally hooked.

When you tell people how much you are enjoying the stories and then explain the story line, people are often shocked and appalled that you could enjoy such a horrific story. Aside from it being non stop action, it is a fantasy. You have to read it to get it and those of you have, know what I mean.

One element of this story that i find entertaining is the love triangle between Peeta, Katniss and Gale. For those who have not read the books, I still have to read the third and will not ruin the story for you, you can continue to read. I like these parts of the story because I am a sucker for some gushy teenage romance, the kind where every touch, kiss and word is analysed.

Probably the other reason why I am so excited about the Hunger Games is because I love pop culture and I am easily swept away in media excitement. My idea of news is watching ENews and Access Hollywood or reading the weekly gossip magazines. The cast of the Henger Games movie have been in the headlines for the last few months.

Last night I saw the movie and it was very entertaining. I do think the book was better. I also think that if you were to see the movie and not have read the book first, you may not get as much out of the movie as someone who has. There are so many details that the book spends time on that could not be portrayed in a movie. There were a few scenes in the movie that I also felt could have been done a little better, specifically creating the flames on the outfits of Peeta and Katniss. As someone who loves fashion, as I read the descriptions of Katniss's outfits my mental interpretations were very specific and the flames seemed so real. To say the least, the flames were a let down.

I am moving on to the third book and I will see the next movie when it comes out a year from now, I am officially hooked on the Hunger Games.

What are your thoughts on the books and the first movie?

Spring Temperatures by Charlie

It's Charlie here, I have been working on my writing over the past few weeks. Mom told me she got lots of posative feedback from my first blog and it made me so excited to get better and write again.

The weather is starting to get warmer and I am loving it. Me and dad have been playing fetch in the back field tons and mom and I have been running lots more than usual. The best part about this time of year is all the smells that are popping up.

I am a smeller by nature, my ancestors are known for their noses. My great grandfather was a famous hunter and one of my uncles is well known for tracking criminals. I know my sniffer is a gift but I haven't quite figured out how I will use it to make a name for myself.

When I go for a walk I can often sniff out where other dogs have been and sometimes I can even tell who the dog is, if it's someone I know. Even though this winter was not super cold and I didn't really feel cooped up in the house, I am so excited to be outside more than usual. In addition to tracking smells I also love to just lay out in the sun. In the morning there is so much sun on the back porch and when I lay out on the deck it heats my black fur and is so relaxing.

That's what I am loving about the warm tempuratures right now, what is your favorite part?

P.S. I will let you know what I decide to focus my sniffing skills on.

Thanks for reading!

Why I like to sweat it out!

I was feeling a little down and sluggish the last few days.  As I drove home from work I considered crawling into bed as soon as I got in the door.  Instead I went for a run.  The hardest part about a run or a workout is getting your but out the door but every time I do, I am so glad I did.

Why I love to sweat it out:

It increases my energy levels

I feel more optimistic (some may argue this is not possible but it is)

It gives me time to think and get creative (my best blog ideas happen while I am running)

It's easier to focus at work

It keeps me in my skinny jeans

It gives me time to bond with Charlie

What is your favourite workout that makes you feel like a superstar?

P.S. I would like to thank the friends and family who have read my blog so far.  A special thanks to my Aunt Tanya for becoming my first follower!  Please feel free to comment, join and share this blog.
